Fifty-five eighth-grade students from 20 schools across Nebraska attended<\/p>\n

UNMC’s 10th annual Health\/Science Meet June 6-8 for an educational and<\/p>\n

fun experience. The meets goal is to inspire students, especially those<\/p>\n

from rural communities, to pursue careers in health care.<\/p>\n

The students qualified for the meet by submitting science projects in<\/p>\n

regional science competitions.<\/p>\n

The expense-paid meet exposes students to the health professions, medical<\/p>\n

research and patient care. Events include hands-on activities, speakers<\/p>\n

presenting information about a variety of health science disciplines and<\/p>\n

touring UNMC. Other activities included fun activities at Mahoney State<\/p>\n

Park and a team science competition.<\/p>\n

Students interested in applying to attend next years eighth-grade Health\/Science<\/p>\n

Meet should contact their science teacher, school counselor or principal<\/p>\n

in the fall.<\/p>\n
