Diplomas will be conferred on 531 University of Nebraska Medical Center students next week during commencement ceremonies in Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha.<\/p>\n

In Kearney, UNMC commencement is Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Health and Sports Center on the Kearney campus. Graduates are from the UNMC College of Nursing Kearney Division, the UNMC School of Allied Health Professions and the Graduate College.<\/p>\n

In Lincoln, UNMC commencement is Friday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts for students in the UNMC College of Dentistry and the UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division.<\/p>\n

In Omaha, UNMC commencement is Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.  Graduates are from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Graduate Studies and the School of Allied Health Professions.<\/p>\n

UNMC is the only public health science center in the state. Its educational programs are responsible for training more health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution. Through its commitment to research, education, outreach and patient care, UNMC has established itself as one of the country’s leading centers for research in cancer, genetics, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and arthritis. Over the past two years, UNMCs research funding from external sources increased by 33 percent and now exceeds $41.3 million annually. In that same period, federal funding increased by 31 percent and now exceeds $25 million annually.
