Twenty four students have begun a masters degree in physician assistant
\nat the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Students are enrolled in
\nthe physician assistant program in Omaha for 28 months.<\/p>\n

To be admitted into the program, students must have a bachelor’s degree
\nand complete courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, English and math.
\nPhysician Assistants (PA) are authorized by the state or credentialed by
\nthe federal government to practice medicine as delegated by and with the
\nsupervision of a physician.<\/p>\n

A physician assistant performs physical examinations, order and interpret
\ndiagnostic tests, prescribe medications and provide patient education and
\npreventative health care counseling. They practice in all subspecialties
\nof medicine and are employed in all types of health care settings including
\nprivate practice, government services and in the armed forces.<\/p>\n
