The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln<\/p>\n

hosted its 14th Annual Professionals Day recently. The event celebrates<\/p>\n

scholarly activities and provides students, faculty and the dental community<\/p>\n

an opportunity to share professional and academic activities.<\/p>\n

The faculty and students listed below were honored with awards and recognition.<\/p>\n

Student Honors<\/p>\n


Thirty-two students with a cumulative grade point average of at least<\/p>\n

3.6 were honored as the top 15 percent of their class. The students are<\/p>\n

COLUMBUS Benjamin Walline (dentistry student) — Pierre Fauchard Academy<\/p>\n

Dental Student Scholarship Award — The award is to honor an individual<\/p>\n

who has demonstrated great potential of developing into an outstanding<\/p>\n

leader in the dental profession. Qualities of intelligence, imagination,<\/p>\n

initiative, and integrity, as well as communication skills enter into the<\/p>\n

selection. The award carries with it a check for $1,500. In 1996, the Pierre<\/p>\n

Fauchard Academy, an international honor dental organization, through its<\/p>\n

foundation, initiated a Dental Student Scholarship Award program for all<\/p>\n

U.S. dental schools.<\/p>\n

MAPLETON, UTAH Ryan Hamilton (dentistry student) — Dr. Raymond Steinacher<\/p>\n

Award– The award recognizes outstanding didactic and clinical skills in<\/p>\n

prosthodontics. The award was created by the UNMC College of Dentistrys<\/p>\n

Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry to honor Dr. Ray Steinacher,<\/p>\n

an outstanding faculty member of the college for 36 years. Dr. Steinacher<\/p>\n

was a highly respected teacher who inspired and motivated students and<\/p>\n

colleagues with his integrity and dedication to patient service.<\/p>\n
