John Repke, M.D., has been named<\/p>\n

the Chris J. and Marie A. Olson Professor of Obstetrics and<\/p>\n

Gynecology and chairman of the department of obstetrics and<\/p>\n

gynecology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His<\/p>\n

appointment is effective March 1.<\/p>\n

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Dr.<\/p>\n

Repke has held faculty appointments at The Johns Hopkins<\/p>\n

University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. In<\/p>\n

1992, he was appointed associate professor of obstetrics and<\/p>\n

gynecology and director of maternal and fetal medicine at Brigham<\/p>\n

and Women’s Hospital in Boston.<\/p>\n

"Dr. Repke brings to us a<\/p>\n

wealth of experience in working collaboratively with private<\/p>\n

practice physicians while building programs that became<\/p>\n

recognized nationally for their quality of service and academic<\/p>\n

excellence," said Harold M. Maurer, M.D., dean of the UNMC<\/p>\n

College of Medicine. "Under Dr. Repke’s chairmanship, we<\/p>\n

look forward to a thriving department at UNMC and the Nebraska<\/p>\n

Health System. I am excited by what we can achieve<\/p>\n

together."<\/p>\n

A 1974 graduate of Georgetown<\/p>\n

University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Repke obtained his medical<\/p>\n

degree from New York Medical College in 1978. <\/p>\n

An expert in maternal-fetal<\/p>\n

medicine, Dr. Repke’s research interest is hypertension in<\/p>\n

pregnancy. He has been published extensively, taught courses,<\/p>\n

presented findings at national and international meetings, and<\/p>\n

made several educational films. He also is the recipient of<\/p>\n

several annual outstanding teacher awards and is listed in the<\/p>\n

"Best Doctors in America" directory.<\/p>\n

Dr. Repke is a member of several<\/p>\n

national and international societies, including the American<\/p>\n

College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society of Perinatal<\/p>\n

Obstetricians and the Society of Gynecologic Investigation. <\/p>\n

He serves on the board of the<\/p>\n

North American Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy<\/p>\n

and chaired the program committee of the 10th World Congress of<\/p>\n

the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in<\/p>\n
