The University of Nebraska Medical Center will sponsor informational sessions Aug. 14 and 15 in North Platte for nurses interested in pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degrees in nursing. Carol Pullen, Ed.D., assistant dean for rural nursing education, for the College of Nursing in Omaha, and Judith Billings, Ph.D., interim assistant dean of the College of Nursing in Kearney, will make the presentations. <\/P><\/DIV>
\n

Licensed practical nurses and registered nurses interested in earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing may attend one of three sessions in the Medical Arts Building’s Home Health Conference Room, west of the Great Plains Regional Medical Center located at 1311 S. Oak St. All sessions will be held on Aug. 14, from 1:30 to 2 p.m., 3:30 to 4 p.m. or 6:30 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 15, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. <\/P>

Non-nursing courses taken to pursue a bachelor’s degree can be taken at any accredited colleges and will apply toward a degree through UNMC. Many of UNMC’s nursing courses will be offered through modalities such as the Internet, which offers students the flexibility of learning at home according to their schedule. <\/P>
\n

People with a bachelor’s degree in nursing who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree in nursing can attend a session from 4:30 to 5 p.m., Aug. 14. A session also will be held from 5 to 5:50 p.m. for registered nurses interested in earning a master’s degree in nursing. Nurses don’t need to have a bachelor’s degree to enroll in this program. <\/P>

Master’s degree courses will be taught at the UNMC College of Nursing campuses in Kearney and Scottsbluff. Some specialty courses in the master’s program will be taught over the Internet. <\/P>
