<\/p>\n

University of Nebraska Medical Center students are working<\/p>\n

with health professionals across Nebraska as part of their health<\/p>\n

care education requirements at UNMC. The student rotations are<\/p>\n

part of the UNMC Rural Health Education Network (RHEN), an<\/p>\n

innovative program developed to help address the shortage of<\/p>\n

health professionals in rural Nebraska.<\/p>\n

The students represent the colleges of medicine, pharmacy,<\/p>\n

nursing, and the School of Allied Health Professions.<\/p>\n

The purpose of RHEN is to change how and where primary care<\/p>\n

students at UNMC are educated. RHEN was developed to expose<\/p>\n

students to a rural health setting with the idea that if students<\/p>\n

receive their training in a rural area, the chances are greater<\/p>\n

that they may consider returning to a rural area once they<\/p>\n

complete their training.<\/p>\n
