University of Nebraska Medical Center Chancellor Harold M. Maurer M.D.,<\/p>\n

and six of his senior leaders at the University of Nebraska Medical Center,<\/p>\n

will visit four communities in Nebraska April 28 and 29.<\/p>\n

From North Platte and Scottsbluff on April 28, to Holdrege and Hastings<\/p>\n

April 29, the group will be involved in various activities, including guests<\/p>\n

at community events, speak at Rotary luncheons, tour health facilities<\/p>\n

and meet with health professionals. The goal of the visits is to say thanks,<\/p>\n

introduce new members of the UNMC leadership team, listen to the health<\/p>\n

care needs of the community, and to let people know UNMC leaders are accessible.<\/p>\n

Communities across the state have played an important part in UNMCs<\/p>\n

success and I want to say thank you to the citizens for their support,<\/p>\n

Dr. Maurer said. He said UNMC appreciates the tremendous support of all<\/p>\n

the communities throughout Nebraska who help make its educational programs<\/p>\n

possible. We are proud of what we can accomplish together.<\/p>\n

Joining Dr. Maurer during the trip will be: Rubens Pamies, M.D., vice<\/p>\n

chancellor for academic affairs; Virginia Tilden, D.N.Sc., dean of College<\/p>\n

of Nursing; John Gollan, M.D., Ph.D, dean of the College of Medicine; Clarence<\/p>\n

Ueda, Ph.D., Pharm.D., dean of the College of Pharmacy; John Reinhardt,<\/p>\n

D.D.S., dean of the College of Dentistry, and Bob Bartee, executive assistant<\/p>\n

to the chancellor.<\/p>\n

Included are three new members of his leadership team: Drs. Pamies,<\/p>\n

Tilden and Gollan.<\/p>\n

UNMC has a presence in 133 locations across the state, including locations<\/p>\n

where community health professionals provide training sites, training and<\/p>\n

experience for UNMC students and residents, programs that strive to increase<\/p>\n

the number of health professionals practicing in Nebraska, and sites where<\/p>\n

students participate in distance education programs.<\/p>\n

We have a 500-mile-wide campus and truly serve all parts of the state,<\/p>\n

said Dr. Maurer. It is important for me to meet with Nebraskans across<\/p>\n

the state and I make it a priority each year to do that. This year, Ive<\/p>\n

invited my academic leadership team to go with me. We have recruited several<\/p>\n

new leaders to UNMC and I want to introduce them to the state.<\/p>\n
