Kimball native, Brock Wentz, a fourth-year medical student at the University<\/p>\n

of Nebraska Medical Center, has been honored by the American Medical Association<\/p>\n

Foundation as one of this years recipients of the AMA Foundation Leadership<\/p>\n

Award.<\/p>\n

The award recognizes 25 medical students, 25 residents and fellows and<\/p>\n

25 young physicians from around the country who have demonstrated outstanding<\/p>\n

leadership skills in non-clinical and community service activities.<\/p>\n

Wentz received the award March 2 at the AMAs inaugural Excellence in<\/p>\n

Medicine Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The AMA Foundation, in association<\/p>\n

with Pfizer medical Humanities Initiative, provided award winners with<\/p>\n

special training designed to improve their effectiveness as emerging leaders<\/p>\n

in medicine. Award winners also attended last months AMAs National Advocacy<\/p>\n

Conference.<\/p>\n

Wentz is an active member of the AMA, serving his local chapter as immediate<\/p>\n

past president, the state chapter as Student Chair to Health Care Insurance<\/p>\n

& Medical Delivery Systems and immediate past chair to Association<\/p>\n

Affairs. He recently provided national service as the chair of the reference<\/p>\n

committee. In addition, he recently served as UNMC student senate president<\/p>\n

and was a non-voting, student member of the University of Nebraska Board<\/p>\n

of Regents.<\/p>\n

As the philanthropic arm of the American Medical Association, the AMA<\/p>\n

Foundation is committed to providing a broad range of programs that improve<\/p>\n

the health of all Americans.<\/p>\n
