<\/FONT><\/B><\/p>\n

Eighteen pharmacy students from the University of Nebraska Medical Center<\/p>\n

College of Pharmacy are listed in the 1999 edition of Whos Who Among Students<\/p>\n

in American Universities and Colleges.<\/p>\n

The students were chosen through nominating committees and by the editors<\/p>\n

of the annual directory. Criteria for selection included academic achievement,<\/p>\n

community service, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential<\/p>\n

for continued success.<\/p>\n

The UNMC students join an elite group of students from more than 1,800<\/p>\n

institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia<\/p>\n

and several foreign nations. Outstanding students have been honored in<\/p>\n

the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.<\/p>\n

UNMC is the only public academic health science center in the state.<\/p>\n

Through its commitment to research, education and patient care, UNMC has<\/p>\n

established itself as one of the countrys leading centers for cancer research<\/p>\n

and treatment and solid organ transplantation. More than $34 million in<\/p>\n

research grants and contracts are awarded to UNMC scientists annually.<\/p>\n

In addition, UNMCs educational programs are responsible for training more<\/p>\n

health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution.<\/p>\n
