{"id":48893,"date":"2009-11-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-11-11T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2009\/11\/11\/dr-james-anderson-named-public-health-associate-dean-for-research-2\/"},"modified":"2022-08-28T19:22:41","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T00:22:41","slug":"dr-james-anderson-named-public-health-associate-dean-for-research-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2009\/11\/11\/dr-james-anderson-named-public-health-associate-dean-for-research-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. James Anderson named public health associate dean for research"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p align=\"left\"><font face=\"arial\">James Anderson, Ph.D., has been named associate dean for research in UNMC&#8217;s College of Public Health. <\/font><font face=\"arial\">Dr. Anderson is recognized internationally for his work with cancer research, including his service as the group statistician of the Children&#8217;s Oncology Group. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><font face=\"arial\">The newly created position provides additional structure to the growing college and supports a pillar of UNMC&#8217;s mission. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\"><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\">&quot;One of the college&#8217;s primary goals is to participate in making UNMC a world-class research institution,&quot; Dr. Anderson said. &quot;I plan to collaborate with my college colleagues to promote public health research.&quot; <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\">&quot;Dr. Anderson brings tremendous wisdom and experience in structuring a strong research portfolio and in mentoring faculty towards successful research careers,&quot; said Ayman El-Mohandes, M.B.B.Ch., M.D., M.P.H., dean of the College of Public Health. &quot;I could not have found a stronger partner or a more skilled leader.&quot; <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\">In his new capacity, Dr. Anderson will oversee a broad range of research activities and work with faculty and departments to facilitate future research projects. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\">&quot;We hope to foster greater interactions between faculty, to assess research resources and fund pilot projects where junior faculty can collaborate with mentors to move projects forward,&quot; Dr. Anderson said. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\">Dr. Anderson assumed his new role on Nov. 1. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#212100\" size=\"3\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#212100\" size=\"3\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#212100\" size=\"3\"><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"1257949231767S\">&nbsp;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;color: #212100;line-height: 115%\">As the state&rsquo;s only academic health science center, UNMC is on the leading edge of health care.
