Prospective college students and advisers are invited to the University of Nebraska Medical Center on Saturday, March 27, to get an insider’s view of the career options within the School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP). <\/span><\/span><\/font><\/span><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Pre-registration <\/span>by March 20 <\/span>is required for the SAHP’s free Backstage Pass event, which runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education, 619 S. 42nd<\/sup> St., Omaha. Parking is available in Lot 4 on the southeast corner of 42nd<\/sup> and Emile streets.<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

“The health care landscape would change dramatically without the skills and expertise of allied health professionals,” said Kyle Meyer, Ph.D., associate dean of the SAHP. “There is a great demand for allied health professionals as virtually all fields face a staffing shortage. Backstage Pass will enable prospective students to talk with current students, as well as faculty, and learn first-hand about the various allied health careers.”<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Allied health professionals – which include radiographers, physician assistants and sonographers to name a few – make up approximately 60 percent of the entire health care workforce.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The afternoon will include informational sessions on admissions, student life, scholarships and financial aid. Students also will have the opportunity to talk with current students and tour SAHP’s 11 programs:<\/span><\/p>\n
