Temme is a native of Petersburg, Neb.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Temme, a registered radiologic technologist since 1973, will serve as president of the 136,000-member national association during 2010-2011. He was installed as president June 27 during the society&rsquo;s annual meeting in Albuquerque, N.M.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The ASRT is the world&rsquo;s largest and oldest professional association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. It provides its members with educational resources, lobbies for quality and safety standards and establishes practice parameters for the radiologic science profession.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">As president, Temme will oversee the association&rsquo;s efforts to enact the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill. The CARE bill, which was introduced in Congress last fall, would set educational and certification standards for personnel who perform medical imaging exams or deliver radiation therapy treatments.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Temme earned his undergraduate degree from UNMC and his master&rsquo;s degree in public administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has previously served on the ASRT board of directors as president-elect and vice president. He also has served the association in many other volunteer positions, including on several committees.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">As the state&rsquo;s only academic health science center, UNMC is on the leading edge of health care.
