Tomich, M.D., District VI Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizes individuals for their contribution to ACOG, the nation&#8217;s leading group of professionals providing health care for women. <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">The award is not intended to be given every year but only when someone meets the high standard of service demonstrated by Dr. Tomich. <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">Dr. Tomich&#8217;s nominator wrote: &quot;Dr. Tomich has mentored fellows and junior fellows, provided fatherly insight from many years of service and experience, and has volunteered for projects and task forces whenever needed and also when no one else would volunteer. He always comes through for District VI.&quot;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">The nominator praised Dr. Tomich for his &quot;mentoring of medical students and residents through kind words of encouragement or in the care of patients with complicated obstetrical problems requiring a compassionate and caring fatherly figure. He always comes through and usually by sacrificing something else in his life.&quot;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">Dr. Tomich started at UNMC in 2002 after 22 years on the faculty at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Loyola University Chicago. He did his OB\/GYN residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. He is board-certified in obstetrics &amp; gynecology as well as maternal-fetal medicine.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">Founded in 1951 in Chicago and now based in Washington, D.C., ACOG has more than 52,000 members.
