(Jack) Elliott Award for significant contributions in health of Nebraskans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The University of Nebraska Medical Center is currently accepting nominations for the 2012 J.G. (Jack) Elliott Award.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The award is given annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to medicine and health programs for the state of Nebraska. The award is given in memory of Elliott, a former Scottsbluff resident who served on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents for 20 years until his death in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient will be selected by the UNMC chancellor based on input from individuals or groups chosen by the chancellor. The award will be presented during UNMC&rsquo;s spring commencement ceremony in Omaha.<\/p>\n<p>Nominees are evaluated according to the following criteria:<\/p>\n<p>&bull; A Nebraska resident who has made a significant contribution to the health of the state through his or her actions. <br \/>\n&bull; Statewide impact with contributions in the areas of education, research and community outreach. <br \/>\n&bull; The individual&rsquo;s actions should improve individual and community health. <br \/>\n&bull; The health contributions should be beyond the scope of work-related activities.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination forms are available online at: http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/externalaffairs\/ <br \/>\nor by contacting Carol Ann Brandt at (402) 559-5105 or e-mailing her at: cabrandt@unmc.edu. <br \/>\nSubmit nominations and supporting materials no later than August 31, 2011 to: <br \/>\nBob Bartee <br \/>\nVice Chancellor for External Affairs<br \/>\nUNMC Chancellor&rsquo;s Office<br \/>\n986630 Nebraska Medical Center <br \/>\nOmaha, NE 68198-6630<\/p>\n<p>Through world-class research and patient care, UNMC generates breakthroughs that make life better for people throughout Nebraska and beyond.
