Susan Boust, M.D., medical director of BHECN and associate professor and vice chair for external affairs in the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, will speak at the forums.<\/p>\n<p>BHECN was created with the passage of LB 603 in 2010. UNMC is leading the effort to establish innovative, recovery-focused education and training to support the behavioral workforce across Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>The three forums and their target audiences include:<\/p>\n<p>8 to 9:30 a.m., Panhandle Mental Health Center, 4110 Avenue D<br \/>\nAudience: information technology staff, academics, administrators, consumers and behavioral health care providers. The meeting will examine the current telehealth activities in Region 1 (western Nebraska) and discuss opportunities to enhance services through telehealth capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>10 to 11:30 a.m., Western Nebraska Community College, Harms Center for Continuing Education<br \/>\nAudience: consumers, behavioral health care providers, law enforcement, academic institutions, government agencies, clergy and victim advocacy agencies. The meeting will review BHECN activities and offer a forum for discussion on behavioral health needs within Region 1.<\/p>\n<p>Noon to 1:30 p.m., primary care luncheon, Rosita&rsquo;s, 1205 E Overland<br \/>\nAudience: physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The meeting will offer a forum for primary care professionals to discuss behavioral health issues in their practices and discuss opportunities to meet the needs of their patients.
