On May 12 to 16, the Olson Center for Women’s Health at UNMC in Omaha will host a week of free presentations, health screenings and a health fair. The events, which are open to the community, raise awareness about women’s health issues and educate women about simple steps they can take for healthier lives.<\/p>\n

The events celebrate National Women’s Health Week, a nationwide initiative of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health, to bring attention to the importance of women’s health.<\/p>\n

“Our goal is to provide important health updates and promote the importance of being aware of health care screening and treatments,” said Sonja Kinney, M.D., medical director of the Olson Center and an associate professor in obstetrics and gynecology. “We know that many women are the main care provider for their families, and if they get the message that their health is important, we’ll get that to translate to better health for everyone.” <\/p>\n

Events will include:
\n Monday, May 12: <\/b> Wellness fair, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Durham Outpatient Center west atrium.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, May 14:<\/b> Self-defense demonstration, noon to 1 p.m. at the Durham Outpatient Center west atrium.<\/p>\n

Presentations will be held in the Olson Center, Durham Outpatient Center, fourth floor. Registration is required. Topics will include:<\/p>\n
