David Mercer, M.D., the senior vice president of medical services for the clinical enterprise, and Cory Shaw, senior vice president of system provider network, released a clinical programs leadership announcement Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\nIn a letter addressed to staff, Dr. Mercer and Shaw said that, “as part of our effort to deliver extraordinary care to our patients and best position the clinical enterprise for the future of health care, we have begun the process of designing integrated clinical programs and services.”<\/p>\n

The goal is to provide more integrated care for patients across departments, academic and private physicians, and the entire continuum of care. <\/p>\n

“These offerings will allow us to continue to competitively position the clinical enterprise in the market and maximize our opportunities for sustaining growth and excellence,” Dr. Mercer and Shaw said.<\/p>\n

\nThe strategic development process for the programs and services will be launched in a number of waves. The first wave of design is scheduled to begin in June and includes cardiovascular services, cancer and acute care services (including trauma, emergency, hospitalists and critical care).<\/p>\n

“Each individual clinical program will undertake a 14 to 16-week strategic design process. During this design phase, cross-functional work groups will structure how the program will best support the clinical enterprise and its physician partners to deliver exceptional care and drive growth moving forward. These work groups will have representation from physicians, administrators and other key stakeholders.”<\/p>\n

\nAdministrative lead: Lisa Runco<\/p>\n

Cancer:<\/b>
\nPhysician lead: Sarah Thayer, M.D., Ph.D.
\nAdministrative lead: Theresa Franco<\/p>\n

Acute Care services:<\/b>
\nPhysician lead: David Gannon, M.D.
\nAdministrative lead: Julie Lazure<\/p>\n

These leaders will be responsible for developing the strategic plan for their respective clinical program and ensuring the program’s ongoing success.<\/p>\n

The letter continued:<\/p>\n

“We are confident that these leaders will not only uphold our mission to deliver exceptional care to our patients but also help position our organization for continued success in the future and the ever-changing health care landscape. Please join us in congratulating these leaders and supporting their efforts to continue to build our clinical enterprise into a leading academic medical center.
