On Saturday, June 21, teams from across the Omaha metro — including from UNMC and its clinical enterprise partners — will be taking part in Purple Stride, a 5K run and walk to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.<\/p>\n

More than 45,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year. The five-year survival rate is just 6 percent, and it’s been recently learned that pancreatic cancer is anticipated to move from the fourth to the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. by 2020. These statistics need to change, and the participants in Purple Stride are committed to helping this happen.<\/p>\n

The event features a timed 5K race and an untimed 5K run\/walk and one-mile walk.<\/p>\n
