Myers, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and assistant director of the Biomechanics Research Building at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is the featured speaker.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe mission of the Biomechanics Research Building is to provide a new understanding of the dynamic aspects of human movement via multidisciplinary approaches.<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Myers&rsquo; research focuses on improving quality of life in individuals with various movement disorders, such as older individuals and those with peripheral arterial disease.<\/p>\n<p>\nShe has received research funding from several foundations and societies, including a prestigious pre-doctoral fellowship from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans&rsquo; Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>\nA native of Hampton, Neb., Dr. Myers currently resides in Omaha with her husband Matt and their three children.<\/p>\n<p>\nScience Caf&eacute;s involve a face-to-face conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone (21 and older), and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. A scientist gives a brief presentation followed by a question and answer period.<\/p>\n<p>\nPizza will be provided by The Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures for the first 50 people.
