  • No. of years at UNMC:<\/b> One month on Sept. 13. I worked at UNMC from 1988-2009 in Finance & Business Services, but had to leave in 2009 for health reasons as I needed a kidney transplant.<\/ul>\n

    Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.<\/b>

    \nI work in the office of academic affairs and support the vice chancellor of academic affairs. My day includes a variety of tasks for the business unit. From day one, it has been such a warm welcome.<\/p>\n

    \nWhen I hear the name, “University of Nebraska Medical Center,” the word ‘medical’ gets my attention. UNMC specializes in caring for people. <\/p>\n

    My story begins when I received the call from the kidney\/organ transplant team. My life was changed. I have a new life, and I was given hope from a kidney transplant performed here at The Nebraska Medical Center in November 2011. All thanks to the medical center for its extraordinary, experienced team of doctors, nurses, and excellent patient care. I am happy, healthy and blessed! <\/p>\n

    What is your favorite fall activity?<\/b>
    \nRaking leaves. As kids, my brother and I would pile them up in the center of the yard, jump in the pile and make angels. We would do this until we were tired from raking the leaves into the pile again or got too cold. It was a blast! Now that I’m an adult, it brings back countless memories. Yes, we still keep the tradition!<\/p>\n

    List three things people may not know about you.<\/b><\/p>\n

      \n
    • I am a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. I am called the “Church Lady” to some and “Auntie” to all the kids. The kids love to come to me and get their dose of candy and gum.\n
    • I am also known as the handy woman. You may find a hammer in one hand and a paint brush in the other. Then there are times you can find me sitting at the sewing machine.\n
    • My passion is cooking. Cooking brings people together. I love to prepare and create meals and I once was a Pampered Chef consultant. My dream is to own my own restaurant.<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
