For me to work within this community has meant I needed to open doors so that I can educate simply, clearly and reliably on vital aspects needed to improve the quality of life of Latinos. <\/p>\n<p>From tobacco prevention, breast cancer, cardiovascular diseases and other chronic illnesses, to mental health, I mentor Latinas through a formal educational process where they learn to become advocates and educators within their families and communities on health. All my projects and interventions are rich in culturally sensitive and empathetic content. I translate documents for the IRB and help faculty members by facilitating focus groups in Spanish and conducting studies within the Hispanic community. I have served as a host of an interactive live educational radio and television show in Spanish since 2004 aimed at educating and providing information about health issues and community services and resources. <\/p>\n<p><b>Being a trusted resource is one of UNMC&#8217;s brand values.
