\nTwenty-two photographs were submitted for consideration in the international photography contest. Five rose to the top as the most aesthetically appealing and of those one is honored as the best in show.<\/p>\n

UNMC Public Relations staff members, Rich Watson, multimedia manager, and Liz Kumru, publications editor, chose the five entries listed below for their interesting and colorful photos.<\/p>\n

\nMax Chiu, medical student, “Striking sunset over the clear waters of Bora Bora, French Polynesia.”<\/span>
\n<\/TD>

\n<\/TABLE>
\nBut the grand prize winner, Eric Nagengast, who submitted “A giraffe in the Karoo region of South Africa,” was praised by the judges for composition, the element of surprise and the shallow depth of field that brought only the giraffe into focus.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to all of the winners and thanks to all those who submitted a photograph. All five photos will be on display at each International Week activity taking place this week on campus. And check out UNMC’s Facebook page<\/a> to see all of the photos submitted.<\/p>\n

    • Wednesday, Nov. 5:<\/b> An ethnic tea will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Maurer Commons area between the Durham Research towers. Ethnic breakfast items will be provided. Winning photos also will be on display.\n
    • Friday, Nov. 7:<\/b> Flag football tournament at 1 p.m. on the Student Plaza grass, followed by ping pong and badminton tournaments starting at 4 p.m. in the Student Life Center. Food and water will be provided at the late afternoon tournament.
