{"id":50889,"date":"2014-10-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-29T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2014\/10\/29\/public-health-careers-to-be-focus-of-college-of-public-health-open-house-nov-7\/"},"modified":"2022-09-02T19:54:32","modified_gmt":"2022-09-03T00:54:32","slug":"public-health-careers-to-be-focus-of-college-of-public-health-open-house-nov-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2014\/10\/29\/public-health-careers-to-be-focus-of-college-of-public-health-open-house-nov-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Public health careers to be focus of College of Public Health open house Nov. 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>\nThose interested in exploring career opportunities in public health can attend an open house at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health on Friday, Nov. 7.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\nThe open house will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Maurer Center for Public Health, 519 S. 40th Plaza Circle.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe event provides prospective students with a basic understanding of the field of public health and how the college trains professionals to tackle health problems from neighborhoods to global populations in a multidisciplinary approach that promotes healthy communities, eliminates disparities and ensures clean environments.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe open house is for prospective students, pre-health advisors and career counselors who want a greater understanding of the field of public health and the opportunities for education and research in the College of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>\nAli Khan, M.D., M.P.H., dean of the College of Public Health, will welcome prospective students with a brief overview of the field of public health. He will be followed by a panel of faculty members who will discuss various public health careers.<\/p>\n<p>\nAfter an in-depth review of the admissions process, the certificate, masters and doctoral programs offered at UNMC will be outlined.
