{"id":51304,"date":"2014-12-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-16T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2014\/12\/16\/cancer-center-partners-with-media-group\/"},"modified":"2022-09-02T20:34:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-03T01:34:58","slug":"cancer-center-partners-with-media-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2014\/12\/16\/cancer-center-partners-with-media-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Cancer center partners with media group"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center announced the formation of a major partnership with NRG Media, one of the largest radio station operators in the Midwest. <\/p>\n<p>Through its seven diverse stations in the Omaha metropolitan area, NRG Media will help connect radio listeners in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa to the life-saving research and clinical care taking place at the Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the new $323 million facility taking shape on the UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine campus scheduled to open in 2017. <\/p>\n<p>Further details regarding the partnership will emerge early in 2015, but Andy Ruback, NRG&#8217;s general manager in Omaha, said various events and activities &#8212; both on and off air &#8212; will aim to accelerate groundbreaking cures in cancer research and provide assistance to cancer patients in need.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The researchers and physicians at the Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center are providing hope and healing to so many people in our community every day &#8212; and that&#8217;s something we want to be a part of,&#8221; Ruback said. &#8220;By working together to inspire audiences and build a community of people who want to have a positive impact, we think we can make a lasting and meaningful contribution to the fight against cancer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No one can fight cancer alone,&#8221; said Ken Cowan, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. &#8220;Our cancer center &#8212; and our patients and families &#8212; need strong, trusted partners like NRG Media who have reach and influence.
