Here&#8217;s a brief rundown of his background and the expertise he brings to campus. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Name:<\/b> Michael Green, Ph.D.\n<li><b>Hometown:<\/b> Hamilton, New Zealand\n<li><b>Title and department at UNMC:<\/b> Assistant professor, Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases<\/ul>\n<p><b>Research\/Professional interests:<\/b><br \/>\nMy lab is interested in the genetics of B-cell lymphoma, with the goal of using genetic profiling to understand disease biology and inform treatment decisions. We are particularly interested in mutations that are acquired early in tumor evolution, and the hierarchical acquisition of cooperating mutations thereafter that allow B-cells to subvert their normal process of differentiation and alter interactions with other immune cells.<\/p>\n<p><b>How I fell in love with science:<\/b><br \/>\nMy mother was a nurse and had human anatomy and medicine textbooks that I would read through when I was younger, which sparked my interest in biology. Genetics became my favorite subject at college, and my drive to work on the genetics of lymphoma came during my honors year of college when my grandmother was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma and succumbed to the disease weeks later.<\/p>\n<p><b>Degrees:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Postdoctoral Fellowship: Division of Oncology, Department of Medicine, Stanford University.<br \/>\n(Mentors: Ron Levy, M.D., and Ash Alizadeh, M.D.\/Ph.D.)<\/p>\n<li>Postdoctoral Fellowship: Division of Hematology\/Oncology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School.
