Please submit your abstract to NSRI by Friday, Jan. 30 to <a href=\"mailto:cwarner@nsri.nebraska.edu\">Chris Warner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The NSRI is one of only 13 strategic U.S. Department of Defense University Affiliated Research Centers (UARC) and is affiliated exclusively with the University of Nebraska. <\/p>\n<p>The conference will address key areas of foundational research including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> novel threat and disruptive chemical and biological discovery.\n<li>dynamic functional materials.\n<li>applied mathematics and innovative computational tools.\n<li>flexible design, synthesis and manufacturing.\n<li>systems biology and engineering.<\/ul>\n<p>Areas of increased focus will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>disease surveillance, characterization and point of need diagnostics\n<li>adaptive medical therapeutics and technologies.\n<li>rapid response and recovery science and technology.\n<li>threat activity sensing and reporting.<\/ul>\n<p>The CBST conference is a premier event that allows researchers to connect with DTRA science and technology managers. These individuals direct the scientific focus of DTRA funding and research needs. abstract title or abstract authors) and should include the following information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Background (purpose\/objective\/rationale of the research, relationship to other areas if any).\n<li>Methods.\n<li>Preliminary results.\n<li>Preliminary conclusion.\n<li>Potential impact to mission\/warfighter (if known).<\/ul>\n<p>Abstracts must be public releasable and
