Women’s Center for Advancement honors UNMC’s Angela Hewlett, M.D.<\/b>
\nAngela Hewlett, M.D., assistant professor in the UNMC Division of Infectious Diseases and associate medical director of the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit is among 10 women who will be honored June 2 at the Hilton Omaha as part of the 28th annual Tribute to Women Lunch for the Women’s Center for Advancement. Honorees were chosen on the basis of their impact and achievements and for demonstrating a lifelong commitment to helping women and their children stay safe and grow strong. <\/p>\n

Dr. Swindells to join national panel on antiretroviral guidelines<\/b>
\nSusan Swindells, M.B.B.S., has been selected to join the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents, a working group of the Office of AIDS Research Council. Dr. Swindells, the Terry K. Watanabe chairwoman for HIV\/AIDS Research and Care, and professor of internal medicine at UNMC, will begin a four-year term on the panel starting in April.<\/p>\n

Annual Agricultural Medicine Course set for July<\/b>
\nThe Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health and the UNMC College of Public Health will present the annual Agricultural Medicine Course<\/a> on July 14-17. The goal of this course is to provide an overview of key health and safety issues specific to rural and agricultural populations. The intended audience is professionals who work with or have an interest in agricultural health and safety. The four-day course includes four hours of online study and an agricultural medicine-related farm tour. Attendees can receive AMA PRA Category 1 credit, College of Continuing Nursing Education credit or EMS Continuing Education credit. For more information, contact Ellen Duysen<\/a>.<\/p>\n
