Parking Services continually looks for ways to keep employee parking rates as low as possible, so while a rate increase looms, there also are cost saving options available.<\/p>\n

Beginning July 1, parking rates for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine will increase 6 percent, or about $2 per lot per month for most lots. <\/p>\n

The increase is necessary to cover such annual operating expenses as ongoing repairs and maintenance of lots. It also covers land purchases, snow removal, security and enforcement, equipment, lot improvements and administrative costs. There was no rate increase to employees and students last year.<\/p>\n

Additionally, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine have explored several alternatives for commuting to work, instead of using a single occupant vehicle. All of these options will be cost effective for the commuter, promote active modes of travel and healthier lifestyles, reduce vehicle emissions and pollution and reduce parking pressure and traffic congestion on campus. <\/p>\n
