Explore strategies that use policy to improve the health of Nebraskans in a short course on health policy offered by UNMC’s College of Public Health.<\/p>\n

Applications<\/a> are now open for the Nebraska Health Policy Short Course to be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., July 21-22, in the Sorrell Center.<\/p>\n

A mix of academic, clinical and public health practice partners will come together in an interactive and applied discussion on the process of developing policy. On the second day, participants will discover how it’s really done — “how the sausage is made” — by local and state policy makers and advocates. <\/p>\n

Guest faculty on the first day are Carolyn Crump, Ph.D., research associate professor, health behavior, and James Emery, research associate in health behavior, both with the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health, Chapel Hill. Dr. Crump and Emery helped to develop Healthy Solutions for the 21st Century — a service-oriented team at the UNC School of Public Health. The team helps agencies, foundations, organizations and community groups address public health challenges through population-based prevention and social equity strategies.<\/p>\n

Only 50 participants will be invited to attend the training. If invited, you will receive a link to a full registration page. Invited participants will be notified by June 19.
