Students will be featured for their participation in activities outside of medical school and for making a difference in the community. The goal is to recognize students for what they are doing and to encourage other students to get involved in the community. After all, medical school should be much more than studying. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Personal:&nbsp;<\/strong><br \/>\nName: Jose Morales<br \/>\nHometown: Monterrey, Mexico<br \/>\nProgram\/Year: College of Medicine, 2017<br \/>\nEducation: &nbsp;B.S. in Biology<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Activities:<\/strong><br \/>\nCOM 2017 Class President<br \/>\nStudent Senator<br \/>\nUNMC Cycling Club Events Chair<br \/>\nPhi Chi Fraternity Recruitment Chair<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Hobbies:<\/strong><br \/>\nOutside of medical school, I really enjoy riding my bicycle.&nbsp; I have a BMC Gran Fondo, just in case there are any fellow cyclists out there.&nbsp; My goal this year is to put at least 2,500 miles on it (I&#039;m about halfway there).&nbsp;&nbsp;Some of the longer rides I&#039;ve done have&nbsp;included&nbsp;RAGBRAI (Register&#039;s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa), the Great Allegheny Passage in Pennsylvania, and the Katy Trail in Missouri. I also did&nbsp;crew in college, and whenever time allows,&nbsp;I really&nbsp;enjoy getting out on the water.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Staying Balanced:&nbsp;<\/strong><br \/>\nSpending time outside really helps me to balance out my school work and give me a much needed break.&nbsp;When I&#039;m not riding my bike I&#039;m usually outside camping, swimming, or hiking&#8230;at least until winter arrives.&nbsp;I also enjoy reading on my time off. I&#039;m a big <em>&#8220;Game of Thrones&#8221;<\/em> fan.<\/p>\n<p>\nStudent Senate is another activity that helps me stay balanced.&nbsp;This year I&#039;ll be a part of the Activities Committee and will be in charge of coordinating Student Senate blood drives on campus.&nbsp;I also serve as IT liaison and help solve whatever issues might arise on the student side of things.<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>List three things people may not know about you:<\/strong><br \/>\n1<strong>. <\/strong>I have worked pretty much every restaurant job you can name.<br \/>\n2. I have a white husky named Ghost.<br \/>\n3.
