Donations sought for international ‘household goods’ sale.<\/b>
\nDonations are being sought from the UNMC community for an international student “household goods” sale to be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Sept. 5 at the warehouse at 3851 Leavenworth St., across from the Center for Successful Aging. The sale is designed to help new international students inexpensively set up their new apartments or houses as they begin their UNMC career. Organizers are looking for furniture, lamps, dishes, glasses and other household items. Donations can be dropped off at the rear entrance of the warehouse between 7 and 8 a.m. Sept. 2, 3 and 4, or between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 and 3. The sale is part of a series of orientation events for international students, and proceeds from the sale will go to the Graduate Student Association. An earlier sale in August raised $400 for the GSA and helped 12 new international students furnish their new residences. <\/p>\n

Transdisciplinary event set for Sept. 15 at University of Nebraska at Kearney<\/b>
\nThe University of Nebraska’s Rural Futures Institute<\/a> and Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute<\/a> are teaming up to host the next “Transdisciplinary Conversations” event. This event will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Alumni House (2222 9th Ave.) on the UNK campus. It is free and open to the public. Light food and drinks will be served. Please register here<\/a> by Sept. 11 to reserve a spot. University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds, Ph.D., will deliver opening remarks. These transdisciplinary discussions bring together scientists, students, extension educators, business leaders, policymakers, farmers and others, allowing them to gather informally and make cross-disciplinary connections they might not otherwise make.<\/p>\n
