Kimberly Norman elected to committee chair of American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy<\/b>

\nKimberly Norman, education program coordinator in the College of Pharmacy, was elected national chair of the Experiential Education Membership Committee of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) at the AACP’s annual meeting this past summer at National Harbor, Md. Norman said she is excited about the opportunity. So is her dean, Courtney Fletcher, Pharm.D. “All of the College of Pharmacy faculty and staff take seriously our commitment to professional and public service,” Dr. Fletcher said. “Kimberly’s election is evidence of the national leadership the UNMC College of Pharmacy continues to provide and, importantly, a clear illustration that this leadership is not just among our faculty but within the ranks of our staff.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Potter recognized by Marian High School<\/b>
\nJane Potter, M.D., professor of internal medicine-geriatrics and a 1969 Marian High School graduate, was presented with the 2015 Sr. Marcella Leadership Award earlier this month at the high school’s annual Esprit de Corps Awards Banquet. Dr. Potter was one of five Marian alumni honored at the event.<\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>In August, Beth LaFave, an administrator in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine, completed the Pike’s Peak Ascent, a 13.32 mile run up Pikes Peak, with a 7,815 foot elevation gain up to the Pikes Peak summit at 14,115 feet. LaFave completed the run in memory of her youngest son, Nate, who died in the Nebraska Medicine ER in 2013 following a car accident. LaFave and friends — nine runners for the Ascent and four runners for the marathon (both up and down the mountain) — carried the names of more than 90 people who were killed in traffic-related accidents. “Nate loved to come up with new adventures and then would say to me, ‘Don’t you want to do this, Mom?'” LaFave said. “Nate would have totally run this race had he known about it, so I ran it for him and in memory of him.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
