Here&#8217;s a brief rundown of her background and the expertise she brings to campus. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Name:<\/b> Nicole de Rosa, M.D.\n<li><b>Hometown:<\/b> Malden, Mass.\n<li><b>Title and department at UNMC:<\/b> Assistant professor, department of general surgery, division of surgical oncology <\/ul>\n<p><b>Research Interests:<\/b><br \/>\nClinical outcomes in melanoma and sarcoma<\/p>\n<p><b>How I fell in love with surgical oncology:<\/b><br \/>\nDuring my general surgery internship, I rotated on the surgical oncology service and felt an immediate connection with the physicians working on the service and the patients under their care.  The combination of communication skills, technical expertise and intellectual pursuits through research made surgical oncology a great fit for my clinical and academic interests.<\/p>\n<p><b>Degrees:<\/b><br \/>\nM.D., Tufts School of Medicine<\/p>\n<p><b>Memberships:<\/b><br \/>\nAmerican Cancer Society, Society of Surgical Oncology <\/p>\n<p><b>Three things people may not know about me:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I greatly enjoy travelling and have been to 12 different countries.  My favorite is Italy, and I have visited four times. My dream trip is to visit Japan.\n<li>One of my interests is art history.  Before going to medical school, I spent one year working in the National Gallery of Art&#8217;s Conservation Department in Washington, D.C.  I participated in the construction of their sculpture garden and assisted in the restoration of Mark di Suvero&#8217;s <i>Aurora.<\/i>\n<li>My undergraduate school, Vassar College, did not have a football team.  Therefore, I have become an instant Nebraska Cornhuskers fan and am excited to cheer them on this season.\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. de Rosa joins the
