Both are members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.unmc.edu\/nursing\/heroes\/\">HEROES<\/a> project.<\/p>\n<p>The HEROES project provides hands-on training, media, and interactive learning modules for emergency preparedness education to health professions students and health care providers throughout Nebraska as part of a programs of excellence grant at the UNMC College of Nursing.  <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Beam has been the project coordinator since 2005 and also serves as the director of education for the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit. Smith supports the HEROES project with skills in media development and instructional design for health care education.<\/p>\n<p>Science Cafes involve a face-to-face conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone (21 and older) and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. A scientist gives a brief presentation followed by a question and answer period.<\/p>\n<p>This cafe is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Panhandle Area Health Education Center.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about Science Cafes, click  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/sciencecafe\">here<\/a>.
