Gold, M.D. provided leadership an update on the governance structure for Nebraska Medicine and the search for its CEO.<\/p>\n<p>\nAfter 18 months of hard work and hundreds of hours dedicated to the governance structure, Dr. Gold announced that a term sheet was signed on Sept. 28, representing the Clarkson Regional Health System and University of Nebraska Board of Regents and securing Nebraska Medicine&rsquo;s future as a leading academic medical center in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\nThis term sheet is considered to be a starting point and the basis of the definitive governance documents, which are expected to include approximately 1,000 pages of details. The final documents should be complete by February 2016.<\/p>\n<p>\nAs part of the governance structure, Nebraska Medicine was defined as the holding company for legacy organizations &#8211; The Nebraska Medical Center, Bellevue Medical Center and UNMC Physicians.<\/p>\n<p>\nIt will be governed by an independent board of directors and will remain focused on quality, access and delivery of world-class health care; educating the next generation of health care professionals; and continuing a tradition of groundbreaking research.<\/p>\n<p>\nNext steps include completion of the final governance document, which will be reviewed by the UNMC Physicians board, departments and divisions within the clinical enterprise and will take effect following a majority vote from all members of UNMC Physicians.<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Gold also provided an update to the search for a permanent CEO of Nebraska Medicine. He said the board of trustees has determined that a single leader should be selected to lead the organization. A RFP process and interviews resulted in Spencer Stuart leading the search effort.<\/p>\n<p>\nAn environmental scan including input from the board, community, leadership and employees has been completed. Now that a term sheet has been signed, the position description was finalized and published and Spencer Stuart is in sourcing mode.<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Gold described interest in the position as &quot;very significant&quot; and explained that a search advisory committee will determine which candidates should be considered by the board.
