“Tobacco Dependence: From Medication to Motivation” is the next Olson Center Brown Bag. The event will be held at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 17. <\/p>\n

According to the American Cancer Society, almost 42 million Americans still smoke cigarettes. Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S. <\/p>\n

Jill Selzle, a certified tobacco treatment specialist, will describe the effects of nicotine on the brain, review withdrawal symptoms, and discuss medications that are available to help you quit smoking for good at the brown bag.<\/p>\n

Selzle will walk audience members through the behavior and mental modifications needed in order to make a long lasting change. Non-smokers concerned about family members and co-workers also are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n

Seating is limited; please pre-register by calling the Olson Center at 402-559-6345. Bring your lunch and refreshments will be provided.<\/p>\n

The lectures are free, but the cost is $10 to obtain nursing credit. Payment instructions will be given when at pre-registration. <\/p>\n

Note:<\/b> The UNMC College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity is provided for 1.0 contact hour under ANCC criteria. <\/p>\n
