lecturer will speak on education"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Laurie Lauzon Clabo, Ph.D., dean and professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, will give the UNMC College of Nursing Audrey Solberg Smith Lecture from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Jan. 13 at the UNMC Center for Nursing Science Building, Room 3030. <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lauzon Clabo will speak on &#8220;Education for Contemporary Practice: A Focus on Competency.&#8221; The presentation, which is geared to faculty but open to students as well, will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the history of competency-based education and current trends in competency-based education for nursing.\n<li>Explore competency frameworks for interprofessional practice and their application in nursing education.\n<li>Assess the implications of the application of competency-based assessment in contemporary nursing education, including implications for students, faculty and employers.<\/ul>\n<p>A reception also will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>This annual lectureship in the UNMC College of Nursing honors an alumna and generous donor, Audrey Solberg &#8220;Solly&#8221; Smith, a 1947
