Holiday Skate a big success for campus<\/b>
\nA large number of people attended the Dec. 11 Holiday Skate event for the UNMC community. Under a bright sky, close to 100 people took part in the free skating event, with 90 people entering a drawing for the giveaways. Cookies and hot chocolate were served to the students and employees who took part in the event, which organizers are considering making an annual tradition. MOMS conducting survey to build database for referrals<\/b>
\nThe Metro Omaha Medical Society Public Health Committee is conducting a survey in response to concerns brought forth by area pediatricians regarding difficulty identifying internal medicine and specialists for referral for mid- and late-teen patients wishing to access adult rather than pediatric care.
\nMOMS is hoping to build a robust database for referrals. It is especially trying to target the following specialties — cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, neurology, pulmonology and rheumatology.

UNeMed partnership should boost software-based biomedical innovations<\/b>
\nIn November, officials formally announced a new partnership that could lead to more productive deals for software-based biomedical innovations developed at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. <\/p>\n

H4 Technology, an Omaha-based software and analytics firm, entered a joint licensing agreement with Nebraska Medicine and UNeMed, the technology transfer arm of UNMC, to further develop a data-based management program for preventing and treating pressure ulcers (commonly known as bed sores). If the pressure ulcer application, called the Nebraska Matrix, progresses as expected, then H4 and UNeMed will likely expand the partnership to include similar UNMC inventions, officials said.<\/p>\n

“I’m excited for the partnership with UNeMed because they are the perfect partner to further our mission to transform health care through technology,” H4 Technology President Chris Henkenius said. “We’re anxious to get started, and further this relationship for years to come.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
