Beginning acceleration<\/h3>\n

Ira Combs of the UNMC College of Public Health will receive the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Laurel for Dedication to Community Service in April for his outstanding leadership in cancer prevention and early detection. The Prevent Cancer Foundation is working in partnership with the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to provide the Laurel awards, which honor individuals who have personal passion for cancer prevention and early detection and who have brought about positive change in the public, professional or political arena. Combs will receive the award at a luncheon in April in Baltimore, during the foundation’s 2016 Dialogue for Action on Cancer Screening conference. <\/p>\n

College of Nursing’s Burge receives state award for excellence<\/b>
\nStephanie Burge, nurse practitioner and instructor at the College of Nursing Kearney Division was awarded the Nebraska State Award for Excellence in Nurse Practitioner Clinical Practice. The award is given by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.<\/p>\n

Family Medicine’s Bronner selected to Nebraska Children and Families board<\/b>
\nLiliana Bronner, clinical education manager in the UNMC Department of Family Medicine, was recently named to the board of directors of the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
