The College of Pharmacy Class of 2016 named Capt. James Dent, Pharm.D., of Offutt Air Force Base its Preceptor of the Year, and the Nebraska Medicine Midtown Clinic its Site of the Year, at its recent annual honors convocation and hooding.<\/p>\n

Capt. Dent leads satellite pharmacy daily operations and supervises three pharmacists and five technicians at Offutt AFB.<\/p>\n

Kelsey Cuvelier, Pharm.D., said Capt. Dent earned the highest praise from this year’s graduating class.<\/p>\n

“Capt. Dent embodies the qualities that we should all strive for in our future careers: commitment, communication, knowledge, compassion and empathy,” she said.<\/p>\n

She continued: “It is amazing to observe Capt. Dent’s patient interactions. He takes the time to really listen to his patients, identify their problems and involve them in developing a solution as well. He speaks to patients with true compassion and empathy – two important qualities in a pharmacist.”<\/p>\n

Kristen Cook, Pharm.D., assistant professor of pharmacy practice, accepted the rotation Site of the Year award on behalf of the Nebraska Medicine Midtown Clinic.<\/p>\n

Jared Matya, Pharm.D., class president, read selected anonymous comments praising the site.<\/p>\n

“I really developed confidence during this rotation,” one said. “Working as a pharmacist in an ambulatory setting showed me the impact pharmacists can make when they work at the highest level of their degree.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
