{"id":55954,"date":"2016-06-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/06\/16\/scottish-rite-events-will-support-munroe-meyer-programs\/"},"modified":"2022-08-22T17:10:48","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T22:10:48","slug":"scottish-rite-events-will-support-munroe-meyer-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/06\/16\/scottish-rite-events-will-support-munroe-meyer-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Rite events will support Munroe-Meyer programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Scottish Rite Foundation of Omaha will be holding two events this summer to support the RiteCare Speech and Language Clinic at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>The RiteCare Classic Golf Outing and Benefit will be held Friday, June 24 at the Shoreline Golf Club, 210 Locust St., Carter Lake, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>The 8th Annual WalkRite for RiteCare will be held Sunday, June 26 at Lake Zorinsky.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Scottish Rite Masons long ago recognized the benefit of early intervention for children with speech and language difficulties,&#8221; said Micah Evans, a spokesperson for Scottish Rite. &#8220;Supporting tomorrow&#039;s leaders through speech therapy has been the principal philanthropy of Nebraska&rsquo;s Scottish Rite Freemasons for more than 40 years, and each dollar we spend today saves a minimum of $7 later in remedial education or social services.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Children who receive evaluation and therapy go on to lead healthy childhoods as lifelong learners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Golf outing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Registration will open for the RiteCare Classic at 11 a.m. on June 24 with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The event features 18 holes of golf, a barbecue dinner, RiteCare Classic golf shirts, contests, raffles, prizes and more. Registration is $100 per player or $400 per foursome. With $25 dinner-only tickets available. There also are hole sponsorships open for $200.<\/p>\n<p>To register, email <a href=\"mailto:micah@SRNE.org\">micah@SRNE.org<\/a>, or call 402-342-1300 with your registration information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WalkRite<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Registration for WalkRite for RiteCare will begin at 9:30 a.m. on June 26, with the walk beginning at 10:30 a.m. Each participant will determine his or her own walking distance. The walk will begin at the Lake Zorinsky Picnic Area No. 5, accessible from 156th Street south of F Street. (Watch for signs.) The walk concludes at noon, with a picnic lunch following the walk.<\/p>\n<p>There is no cost for joining the walk, but each participant is encouraged to raise $100.<\/p>\n<p>Fundraising incentives include a T-shirt (for $100 raised), a T-shirt and bottle (for $250) or a T-shirt, bottle and tote bag (for $500).<\/p>\n<p>You can register using <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.unmc.edu\/PublicAffairs\/TodaySite\/images\/siteimages\/Walk0511.pdf\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">this form<\/a> by mail, or by calling 402-342-1300.
