{"id":56570,"date":"2016-09-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/09\/07\/program-provides-launchpad-for-teaching-success\/"},"modified":"2022-08-29T15:17:56","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T20:17:56","slug":"program-provides-launchpad-for-teaching-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/09\/07\/program-provides-launchpad-for-teaching-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Program provides launchpad for teaching success"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Interprofessional Academy of Educators (IAE) will hold its first training program, Teaching Launchpad, beginning in September.<\/p>\n<p>The four-session series, which runs from September through May, is designed for all  UNMC health sciences faculty and staff who are new to teaching or assuming a new teaching role.<\/p>\n<p>Topics will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Course Development: Sept. 16\n<li>Assessment &amp; Evaluation: Nov. 18\n<li>Teaching Strategies: Feb. 17\n<li>Educational Scholarship: May 19\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;One of the key roles of the academy is to share our members&#8217; expertise with others to foster excellence in the educational skills of all UNMC faculty,&#8221; said Geoffrey Talmon, M.D., director of the IAE. &#8220;The Teaching Launchpad will give those with new teaching responsibilities a solid foundation to succeed, highlight potential educational mentors, and allow participants to form connections with those with similar needs and interests.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>UNMC Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dele Davies, M.D., said, &#8220;The Teaching Launchpad is an excellent foundation for new and established faculty who are looking to bolster all aspects of their teaching.
