Regulatory agencies, such as the ACGME, are requiring quality and patient safety training as part of residency training. This academic year, academic hospitalists Dr Mahliqha Qasimyar and Dr Urmila Mukherjee will be introducing a multi-faceted, longitudinal quality improvement and patient safety (QI\/PS) curriculum for the Internal Medicine residents to address these needs.<\/p>\n<p>The 12-month curriculum consists of interactive didactic lectures, monthly small group high value care sessions, more robust monthly CPCs with the formation of post CPC committee, journal club, as well as a QI\/PS fair highlighting resident&rsquo;s QI projects at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to align with institutional goals and priorities as we prepare residents to be stewards of quality, high value, patient-centered care; develop and promote a culture of safety that trainees will carry with them throughout their career; and cultivate future leaders in healthcare quality and systems innovation.<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" style=\"display: none;\" title=\"bCl FdIkt VcVLa G  FW\">bCl FdIkt VcVLa G  FW<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In recent years, there has been increased demand for safe, effective and high value care for patients.
