\n<\/TABLE>Christina Atkins of The Durham Museum will speak on campus on Tuesday, providing a sneak peek into the Durham’s next Local Focus exhibition, which highlights never-before-exhibited pieces of the Byron Reed Collection. <\/p>\n

The presentation is at noon in the Sorrell Center, Room 2018.<\/p>\n

Atkins, formerly an intern and now on staff with the museum, also will give a behind-the-scenes look at The Durham’s internship program, how it helps students prepare for their careers and culminates in the production of an exhibition such as the soon-to-open “Orchestrating a Nation: Musical Nationalism in the 19th Century.” This exhibition will showcase signed pieces of music from a variety of prestigious composers and musicians from the 19th century, explain how these forms of music were unique to their time, and explore how these ideas brought about the major military clashes of the 20th century. <\/p>\n

The event is offered through the Time Travelers program, which provides free museum admission for medical center employees, students, and their immediate family with a valid identification badge, while also offering lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
