UNMC leaders speak at event marking Lincoln construction start<\/b>
\nUNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and Juliann Sebastian, Ph.D., dean of UNMC’s College of Nursing, were among the University of Nebraska and community leaders who spoke Dec. 9 at an event marking the beginning of construction on the University Health Center and UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division building. Site work began in November and the new building is expected to open in mid-2018.<\/p>\n

Dr. Koesters to hold writing seminar for post-docs<\/b>
\nAdrian Koesters, Ph.D., editorial grant specialist, will hold a six-session seminar for post-doctoral students on effective writing strategies beginning Jan. 10. The course, designed for post-doctoral researchers who wish to improve their basic writing skills, runs through Feb. 14. Participants must commit to attending at least five of the six sessions, which will be held Tuesdays from 1-1:50 p.m. at the Durham Research Center, Room 1005. Pre-registration is required. Registration is available via REDCap on the Post-Doc web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McGoogan’s Hartman named to AMA Journal of Ethics editorial board<\/b>
\nTeri Hartman, associate professor of education and research services at the McGoogan Library of Medicine, has been named to the American Medical Association Journal of Ethics editorial board. Her three-year term runs until 2019. <\/p>\n

“I am excited to have this opportunity to work alongside editor-in-chief Audiey Kao, M.D., Ph.D., and his staff, and to help develop and promote the journal’s new initiatives,” said Hartman, who is a member of the UNMC Interprofessional Academy of Educators. “I am impressed with the journal’s focus on ethics education, and the fact that this is a publication driven by students and residents.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Michaud featured on medpagetoday.com<\/b>
\nKaleb Michaud, Ph.D., of the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine-Rheumatology, was recently featured in Medpagetoday.com, discussing his research on long-term effects of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment among patients enrolled in the National Data Bank (NDB) for Rheumatic Diseases. Dr. Michaud is co-director of the database. Several of his abstracts were recently published in an online supplement to Arthritis & Rheumatology, including one on the risk of diabetes among patients with RA and how treatments can influence this risk. Audrey Paulman, M.D., new editor of Physicians Bulletin<\/b>
\nAudrey Paulman, M.D., clinical professor of family medicine, has been named editor of the Physicians Bulletin, the newsletter for the Metropolitan Omaha Medical Society (MOMS). A 1977 graduate of the UNMC College of Medicine, Dr. Paulman has been active in MOMS for many years. For the past 20 years, she has been involved in the Medical MESS Club, an annual light-hearted event that spoofs the medical profession while raising money for the MOMS Foundation. In a story in the Nov.\/Dec. 2016 issue of Physicians Bulletin, Dr. Paulman said she sees the magazine as a way to build a sense of community among physicians. “We don’t celebrate things enough,” she said.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
