Editor’s Note:<\/em><\/strong> Each month, InterCOM will highlight a "Student of the Month" from the College of Medicine. Students will be featured for their participation in activities outside of medical school and for making a difference in the community. The goal is to recognize students for what they are doing and to encourage other students to get involved in the community. After all, medical school should be much more than studying.<\/p>\n

Program\/Year: <\/strong>Second-year medical student<\/p>\n

Education: <\/strong>B.A., University of Pennsylvania, biology and chemistry minor<\/p>\n

Activities: <\/strong><\/p>\n

SHARING Clinics — I serve as the co-chair of the SHARING Student Steering Committee, which involves acting as a liaison between the student and faculty committees, and overseeing student clinic activities and partnerships with other organizations. I also volunteer in clinic as a "continuity provider," which allows me to develop a relationship with one patient over time to most effectively manage their medical needs.<\/p>\n

Staying Balanced: <\/strong><\/p>\n

For me, getting outside on the Field Club Trail or just walking around the neighborhood is the best way to combat stress and to recharge on a daily basis. I think making time to do something you love, like camping every once in a while, is important as well.<\/p>\n

Three things people don't know about me:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. I bungee jumped in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

2. I spent a year studying rare endemic plants in central Florida while living at a biological station.<\/p>\n
