This encompasses organizations serving the Douglas, Sarpy, Cass and Pottawattamie counties and Grand Island. Many support lifesaving research or help patients get the support and services they need when they are not on the med center campus. <\/p>\n<p>Click on the event below and look for the &#8220;Nebraska Medicine\/UNMC&#8221; or &#8220;Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center&#8221; team names to participate in an already established corporately endorsed event. <\/p>\n<p>UNMC and Nebraska Medicine&#8217;s presence at these events helps demonstrate our commitment to these communities. There&#8217;s also a short kid&#8217;s ride around Valley, Neb. The event raises awareness for colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n<p><b>Organization: Great Plains Colon Cancer Coalition<\/b><br \/>\nEvent Name: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supportcoloncancertaskforce.org\/boxer500\/BoxerNEMedicine\">The Boxer 500<\/a><br \/> <br \/>\nDate: Aug. 20, Werner Park<br \/> <br \/>\nThe Boxer 500 is a 5K run\/walk, a one-mile walk and kid&#8217;s event to raise awareness for colorectal cancer.
