Poovanur, Tamil Nadu, India\n<li><b>Title and department at UNMC:<\/b> Assistant professor, UNMC Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases<\/ul>\n<p><b>Research\/professional interests:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Glycobiology of pancreatic cancer\n<li>Autocrine and paracrine cell signaling mechanisms\n<li>Developing new therapeutics for pancreatic cancer<\/ul>\n<p><b>How I fell in love with science and cancer research:<\/b><br \/>\nWhen I was in high school, my uncle routinely treated jaundiced patients with a homemade herbal medicine that cured the disease. However, my uncle did not know what type of jaundice or how the herbal medicine worked on the patients. This inspired me to fall in love with science and to find out how herbal medicines work. My training in science over the past 10 years has shifted my interest to identifying early detection cancer biomarkers and cures for cancer, because this disease is one of the leading causes of
