Paul Esposito, M.D., professor, orthopaedic surgery, was honored with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Orthopaedics Distinguished Service Award in September. <\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>The award was presented during the Section on Orthopaedics 2017 National Conference & Exhibition in Chicago and is the Section’s highest honor. <\/p>\n

The Section on Orthopaedics was founded in 1976 to improve musculoskeletal health of children through mentorship, education, research, advocacy and service. The Distinguished Service Award, established in 1995, recognizes an individual in the field of pediatric orthopaedics who has contributed to the AAP’s mission of excellence in research, teaching and patient care. <\/p>\n

The Section’s executive committee cited Dr. Esposito as “a dedicated leader and strong advocate for most of his career in the field of pediatric orthopaedics – within the AAP and beyond.” <\/p>\n

The committee commended Dr. Esposito’s commitment to the betterment of children’s musculoskeletal health, recognizing him as “one of the giants in the world of pediatric orthopaedics.” <\/p>\n

Dr. Esposito attended Hahnemann Medical College followed by a surgical internship and residency at the United States Naval Regional Medical Center. He completed a fellowship at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati. <\/p>\n

His passions include advancing the care of children with osteogenesis imperfecta and musculoskeletal effects of pediatric obesity. <\/p>\n

Dr. Esposito has served as a member of the Section on Orthopaedics Executive Committee and as a long-standing member of the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness of the Section on Uniformed Armed Services. He also has served as head of the Pediatric Section of the U.S. Bone and Joint Decade and continues to serve as an ambassador of the International Bone and Joint Decade.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
